The IUIS 2023 Congress mobile app allows delegates to have access to all Congress data from any mobile device. The mobile app includes the scientific program, sponsor and exhibitor details, and additional information regarding the Congress. It is available on Apple Store and Google Play and supports smartphones as well as tablet computers.

ATMs are located in the foyer of the P3 parking basement, in CTICC 1 on the ground floor, near Entrance 1 as well as in the CTICC 2 atrium.

Please note that cash payments will be accepted on-site in USD only. Please make sure to bring the exact amount due according to the payment order if you wish to pay in cash. No change will be given.

All attendees will receive an email to download the certificate of attendance after the congress upon completing the post-conference survey. No certificate will be printed onsite.

The coffee breaks from Tuesday until Thursday are taking place inside the Exhibition Area and in the Foyer of Auditorium 1. The coffee breaks from Friday and Saturday are taking place in the Poster Area (Hall 2) and in the Foyer of Auditorium 1.

To obtain CPD credits, please ensure to scan your badge in the designated areas when entering and leaving the venue. Credits will only be given for actual time spent at the conference. For more information, please click here.

While you can expect to be able to pay for most goods and services with a credit card, it’s smart to carry some cash with you just in case.

South Africa’s official currency is the South African rand (ZAR). When traveling in South Africa, it is smart to carry some ZAR in cash. While many shops and restaurants will accept credit cards, merchants at small, local markets may only accept cash — typically in ZAR.

The Day of Immunology awards are given to the best public relations campaigns advocating the Day of Immunology theme. Submissions come from (or are endorsed by) our member societies. Awards totalling €17,000 are given per region to the first, second, and third place societies as chosen by IUIS and the regional federations.

Most international electrical adapters can easily be found in electronic stores, and most stores even sell a multi-national adapter that works for most countries. You’ll need to find a 3-pronged “type M” adapter, which you can easily find online or in the airport upon arrival.

From November 27 to 30, two food courts will be located in the Exhibition Hall 1A+1B. From December 1 to 2, there will be two small food courts: in front of the entrance to Hall 1A and in the Foyer of Auditorium 1 Lunch options are available in different areas of the congress centre at own cost.

A Cape Town tourist information point will be located at the Poster area (Hall 2).

Established by GEC in 2020, this is the first IUIS award that recognizes outstanding research accomplishments of women immunologists. It is generously supported by the Menarini Group. The prize will be awarded in a special ceremony on Friday, December 1st at 17:45 in Auditorium 1. Afterward, Dr. Mathis will give a Keynote Lecture that will be followed by a networking reception in the foyer of Auditorium 1.

It is possible that some foreign mobile phones do not operate in South Africa. Some mobile providers offer prepaid SIM cards, which include data, talk time, and SMS and can be inserted into an unlocked device.

A badge is required for admittance to all official meeting sessions and events and the exhibition and poster area. Each participant is asked to present the badge in order to gain access to the Meeting. The badge must be clearly displayed. Lost name badges can be replaced at the registration counter for a handling fee of 50 USD. Upon handing out a new name badge, the lost badge will become invalid.

IUIS 2023 abstracts will be published after the congress in the official IUIS journal Frontiers in Immunology. This multidisciplinary open-access journal is at the forefront of disseminating and communicating scientific knowledge and impactful discoveries to researchers, academics, clinicians and the public worldwide.

Presentations in all rooms are being recorded. On December 15, delegates will receive an email with more details on how to access them.

The Rising Stars initiative has been established to raise the profile of outstanding young professionals who have made significant contributions to the field and their community.

You will have the opportunity to leave your coat and luggage in a cloakroom located next to the registration area on the ground floor of the CTICC. Wardrobe is free of charge.

Summer in Cape Town (mid-October to mid-February) is hot, dry, and windy, with rare pockets of rain and thunderstorms. Temperatures during these warm months range anywhere from 80 to 100 degrees Fahrenheit.
